Drone Wedding Photographer

If you’re planning a wedding, you may be wondering if you should hire a drone wedding photographer?

Some wedding photographers are starting to use drones, but most prefer to concentrate on their traditional work.

If a photographer does offer to take some drone shots of your wedding, it’s essential that you check they have approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and that they have the correct insurance cover.

At Drone Safe Register, we have a national network of CAA approved drone pilots, and we can supply a professional to cover your wedding. Hiring someone without the right approval and insurance can be very risky. Drones are very safe when flown by a qualified, experienced pilot, but they can be dangerous in the wrong hands. If one crashed at your wedding venue and no insurance was in place, it could be an expensive problem to resolve. Worse still, if a drone injured one of your guests it could cast a shadow over the day!

If you decide to hire a drone wedding photographer, think about how much of the day you need them for and discuss this in advance. It’s also a good idea to put your drone professional and wedding photographer in touch so that they can work together and co-operate. Aerial shots of your wedding party group shots can be particularly effective, and the pilot and wedding photographer can plan these together.

It may only be necessary to hire a drone photographer for a few hours on your wedding day. Unless you’re having a ceremony outdoors, you may not need him until later in the day. Aerial shots of your guests at the wedding or reception venue can be a nice addition to your album, but bear in mind that a professional drone pilot has to operate within safety restrictions and can’t fly too close to buildings and people.
