Drones will appear at more events than ever this summer

But it is very important you know the rules before allowing a drone pilot to film an event.

In the UK anyone using a drone for paid work must have approval from the CAA and hold correct insurance. All qualified drone operators are issued with a yearly PFCO (permission for commercial operation) by the CAA.

All qualified pilots must attend ground school, complete an operations manual and be flight tested before the CAA will issue the pilot or company permission.

As an example, No drones can be flown within 150m of 1000 or more persons. If you have a group of 1000 persons or less, providing the group are within the pilots control the 150m rule is removed completely. We have members for hire who can fly closer than 150m having obtained extra permissions from the CAA.

All drone pilots require landowners permission to take off from the land the event is being held on.

At Drone Safe Register we have made the process of finding a legal drone pilot very easy. All our pilots have valid insurance and current PFCO status issued by the CAA. Drone Safe Register is also the safest directory to hire a drone pilot from as we check both PFCO & Insurance before our members can join our register.

No other UK organisation offers this very strict vetting process and we have some of the very best drone pilots within the UK for hire.
