Drone Owner Rescued By Emergency Services

British Transport Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue have helped a drone owner to safety after his drone became stuck in a tree at a busy Brighton train station today.

He had become stuck next to a busy live railway line. Trains have been delayed due to live rails being turned off for safety.

Southern Rail tweeted: “Due to a member of public getting stuck up a tree next to the railway line in #Brighton today (we’re not joking), services to and from this station may be delayed by up to 10 mins.”

A hobbyist flying a drone within a congested area must keep 150m away from people and property at all times. CAA approved drone operators can fly as close as 10m with correct permissions.

CAA approved drone operators are correctly insured and trained before being given permission to charge money for aerial work within the UK.

It is very important you check when hiring a drone operator as many are operating illegally without CAA permission or insurance.
