Summer events are coming to an end

The heat may have been too much for some people, but we can’t complain about the lack of a summer this year! Although the number of outdoor events this year has been good news for commercial drone operators, extreme temperatures can be a challenge with drones overheating. Cooler weather means it’ll be easier to plan flights in the knowledge that heat-related technical problems won’t lead to postponement.

Prepare For The Winter

The onset of autumn and the approach of winter brings great opportunities for drone operators to carry out roof inspections and thermal surveys. The current energy crisis with prices rocketing means we all need to find ways to cut gas and electricity use. A roof survey is a great way to identify where heat may be escaping and take action to insulate your home. Cracked tiles and other damage which could lead to expensive leaks can also be pinpointed with a drone. The cost of a roof inspection can very easily be offset by potential savings.

Thermal roof surveys must be carried out by operators with specialist equipment and expertise, but we have the best of these in the UK as members of Drone Safe Register. Infrared thermal imaging produces highly detailed, valuable data that can be used to assess the condition of a roof and where repairs or insulation may be required. As well as domestic homes, thermal roof surveys are recommended for industrial buildings and hotels and other commercial premises.

Drones for Good!

The press have reported a lot of good news stories about drones in recent weeks, and this is great for our industry. We’ve seen everything from lost dogs being found by teams of volunteers using drones for the delivery of chemotherapy drugs to remote locations. This helps the general public understand that there are serious commercial applications where drones have a valuable role to play.

Drone Property Inspections

The prolonged heatwave over the summer wasn’t good news for everybody. Farmers have lost crops to fires, and many homeowners will now suffer property subsidence damage as the result of dry ground shrinking beneath their homes. Damage isn’t always visible as it may first appear high on walls, under guttering and in other inaccessible areas. A drone is the ideal tool for carrying out a property inspection if you’re worried about potential damage.
