A new world record for the longest football match ever with drone coverage provided by Drone Safe Register Pilots.
A huge congratulations to the 36 footballers who became World Record breakers over this Spring bank holiday 2016. Organised by Worthing United Football Club, the motivation behind the world record attempt is the tragic loss in recent years of their three team members – Matt Chaplain, Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt.
The event raised funds for The British Heart Foundation and towards building a permanent memorial footballing facility for community use. The two teams battled the elements come rain and shine, day and night for over 105 hours (that’s over 4.5 days!) to the set the record for the longest continuous football match.
Held at Lancing College in Sussex the epic non-stop football match was supported by Drone Safe Register (DSR) UAV pilots who provided the ground and aerial coverage. The teams worked tirelessly in shifts to provide daily ground updates and 3 daily live drone flights which were streamed live onto Facebook.
Drone Safe Registered pilots Mark Boyt & Nick Stubbs both agreed, ‘This is a fantastic world record breaking achievement for ALL the players, officials, catering and the organisers. It was exhausting; but worth every minute. I feel very fortunate to be found on DSR and honoured to be asked to take part in something so worthwhile and cover the action’.
