Fighting Crime and Protecting Communities

Drones have become a valuable tool for protective services, enabling unprecedented views of scenes and incidents.

Uses in Law Enforcement

Various police forces across the county have turned to the use of drones to conduct more thorough investigations. Police are deploying drones and sophisticated payloads, including both zoom and thermal drones to aid their services and missions.

Search and rescue, crime scenes, investigations, crowd control, evidence gathering and accident reconstruction are just a few examples of how drones have been a valuable asset to their force.

The Technology

Thermal imaging allows the operator to find hotspots and heat signatures, helping you to deliver information where your line of sight is disrupted, such as built-up areas or woodland. This is especially useful for search and rescue missions or when police are chasing a suspect.

Laser Rangefinder allows operators to search landscapes quickly with an aerial perspective. Certain drone models are remarkably capable of zooming in and pinpointing an object in view. Not only that, they will then deliver the object coordinates to you, giving you the immediate location of the object or person of interest.

Live streaming can be shared amongst various teams, meaning everyone involved in the mission can be updated in real-time. This means there are no crossed-wires and reduced miscommunications, as everyone can share the same data and footage as and when it is captured.

Why They’re Valuable

Drones have the advantage of simply being able to reach areas that police cannot. They provide a much safer option for high-risk environments or cases where space is limited.

Drones provide an arguably more thorough investigation of natural disasters, hazardous materials and dangerous landscapes, with a hugely reduced risk to human life.

Moreover, drones enable rapid deployment. Despite the police forces' best efforts to react quickly, manual methods of public safety are often limited by physical constraints, high costs, and time-consuming preparations.

They’re quicker with data capture processes and provide real-time information and imagery by quickly covering large areas of land. This is a vital feature for time-sensitive missions and life-or-death emergencies.

Drones have eliminated the need for costly manned aircraft, reducing labour costs and minimising the time and resources required for setup and operation. As a result, we have seen a rise in more efficient and frequent aerial surveillance, as well as better resource allocation for emergency response and more critical situations.
