Drone Hire Saves Cathedral Thousands
Nationwide Church Spire Inspection Service
They hired a Drone and saved the Cathedral trust thousands
For the first time in its history Chichester Cathedral in West Sussex has used an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), more commonly known as a drone, to carry out an important aerial survey on the spire of the Cathedral in Chichester.
Back in October 2014 the spire suffered a direct lightning strike. This made it important to carry out a close aerial inspection of the stonework to check for any damage. The cost of employing the services of a drone helped to save costs for the Cathedral which was very welcomed.
Controlled by a Drone Safe Register member from the ground the highly qualified operator used a powerful camera which delivers high resolution photographs and video.
The Cathedral then took advantage of this aerial work to capture a piece of videography which then allowed them to view the Cathedral, its precincts, and surrounding area from a unique perspective from above.
