A Word from Mark Boyt – March 2019
2019 is racing by and already we can start looking forward to the better spring weather that drone pilots love.
There’s never a quiet month here at DSR headquarters as we are always full of new ideas at various stages of development, but March has seen more than its share of activity.
We were, of course, very pleased to be asked to join the CAA SUA unit as industry stakeholders and we aim to do all that we can to be the voice of the commercial drone professional. This represents an opportunity to influence our industry at grass roots level and play a part in shaping the CAA thinking that affects our day to day working lives as drone pilots. It’s a responsibility that we take very seriously and we’ll keep our members informed as much as we are able.
It’s been a real pleasure to spend time with our partners at Jessops in the past month as we’ve worked on more ways that we can benefit each other and the drone industry as a whole. There’s a raft of new initiatives on the table. We look forward to swelling our ranks of hobbyist members and providing them with a great support network to enable them to get the most from their drone hobby (and not forgetting passing on to them their Jessops discount!).
This month has also seen a partnership with a cause that is very close to my heart. We will be working alongside All Call Signs to help them with the incredible work that they do with veterans and serving military personnel and I couldn’t be prouder the DSR are going to be part of it.
Another area that DSR is passionate about is drones and education. We will shortly be announcing the start of our ‘Drones for Schools’ programmed which will give our DSR pilot members the tools they need to work with local education establishments. This national education programme will be a huge opportunity for schools to learn about Drone tech and for our Members to get out in front of their local community.
So another bumper month of activity here with plenty to look forward to over the coming months.
