DSR Back into the Dragons’ Den

The 9th of September 2018 was a landmark day in the history of Drone Safe Register as it was the air date of the episode of Dragons’ Den where we gained investment form Dragon Peter Jones CBE.

At DSR HQ, we had been keeping our involvement in the BBC’s flagship business programme a secret for the best part of 6 months, so frankly it was a giant relief when it all went public.

We knew that having the investment and backing of someone like Peter would be a game changer for our organisation and it feels as though our feet have barely touched the ground since the deal was done. We’ve been hard at work with Peter and his team to achieve many of our business goals including redeveloping our website, growing our member numbers, expanding the range of benefits we have to offer our drone pilot network and partnering with Jessops (also part of the Peter Jones empire).

We’ve also launched with Peter Jones our ground-breaking free Drones for Schools education programme which brings the drone industry into the classrooms of tomorrow’s pilots.

As our result of our investment into the future of the industry as a whole, we have been asked to work directly with the CAA as a third-party stakeholder as they develop their airspace and drone policy regulation.

So, it’s been a busy time and we’re not stopping any time soon as we are on the brink of launching a whole new raft of features and member benefits for the amateur flyer community.

We’re delighted that our Dragons’ Den episode is being repeated on Sunday 12th May at 7pm on BBC2.  Peter Jones was asked by the BBC programme producers which episode he would like the to show again and he jumped at putting forward the Drone Safe Register episode. Tune in to see what happened as we flew in to face the Dragons or even if you just enjoyed the argument between the Dragons as they fought to invest in DSR.

The programme caused such a surge of interest in our Drone Directory website after its first showing, that our website actually crumbled under the increased demand!  Of course, we’ve rebuilt and redesigned it since then and filled it with so much more amazing content both for drone pilots and the drone hiring public, so this time we are ready for all the attention!
