UK Government to Introduce Drone Registration

The Government’s drone consultation response has been published today and it announces registration for all drones weighing 250g or more. Read the Full Publication There is no time frame or firm plans as to how the new rules will be enforced. The Department of Transport commented that “the nuts and bolts still have to be ironed out”. The consultation details that registration will encompass a drone safety awareness test that will involve potential flyers having to “prove that they understand UK safety, security and privacy regulations”. Illegal Drone on Parcel Force Promo

This morning one of our Drone Safe Register members witnessed first-hand an illegal drone pilot allegedly flying and filming on a promotional video for Parcel Force. The DSR member, who asked not to be named, told DSR he couldn’t quite believe what he was seeing with regards to a drone being flown just metres from a road – A clear breach of the UK’s Air Navigation Order and the CAA’s drone code. UNSAFE DRONE PILOT WALKS AWAY WITH FINE AND DRONE CONFISCATION
